New Delhi, December 8, 2025 — Allison Hooker, the United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, arrived in India on a visit aimed at strengthening the U.S.-India strategic partnership and advancing priorities for a free and open Indo-Pacific.
The U.S. Mission welcomed Hooker’s arrival on X, saying the visit will support President Donald Trump’s goals for a robust bilateral relationship and closer cooperation on issues vital to economic and national security.
Hooker’s agenda emphasizes deepening economic and commercial ties, expanding American exports, and promoting collaboration on emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and space. While in New Delhi she is scheduled to meet senior Indian officials to discuss regional security, economic cooperation, and shared Indo-Pacific priorities, including formal Foreign Office Consultations with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
In Bengaluru, Hooker will visit the Indian Space Research Organisation and meet leaders from India’s space, energy, and technology sectors to promote joint research and explore opportunities for expanded cooperation, the U.S. Embassy said.
The visit follows recent joint statements on counterterrorism. On December 6, India and the United States condemned terrorism in all its forms and reaffirmed commitment to multilateral cooperation through mechanisms such as the UN, the Quad, and the Financial Action Task Force. At meetings earlier in December — including the 21st India-U.S. Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism and the 7th Designations Dialogue — the two sides urged additional UN 1267 designations for ISIS and al-Qaida affiliates as well as groups linked to Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad to enforce asset freezes, travel bans, and arms embargoes.
Both countries also condemned recent attacks, including the Pahalgam incident on April 22 and the Red Fort incident on November 10, stressing the need to hold perpetrators accountable. Indian officials said the discussions underscore the breadth of the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
