New Delhi, April 25 — Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met a delegation of journalists from Nepal on Saturday to review recent developments in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Misri apprised the visiting media representatives of the significant progress across multiple areas of the India–Nepal partnership and conveyed a positive outlook for future cooperation. Jaiswal posted about the interaction on X, noting the Foreign Secretary’s briefing to the group.
The visit follows an April 23 meeting in New Delhi when Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju hosted 20 Nepali media representatives at Parliament House. Rijiju said the delegation was briefed on India’s parliamentary system, political framework and diplomatic outreach during the familiarisation visit, and he described such exchanges as strengthening institutional cooperation and deepening trust between India and Nepal.
Nepal shares frontiers with five Indian states — Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand — and longstanding civilizational and cultural ties underpin robust people-to-people connections. The Ministry of External Affairs has described Nepal as a priority partner under India’s Neighbourhood First policy.
Those bonds are sustained by frequent high-level contacts. The MEA notes that since May 2014 there have been 17 exchanges at the level of Head of State or Head of Government, a cadence of visits that helps leaders review the full range of bilateral relations and maintain forward momentum.
