Abu Dhabi, December 3 — The UAE celebrated its 54th Eid Al Etihad at the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi under the theme “United,” with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan joined by fellow Supreme Council members, Emirates’ rulers, crown princes, deputy rulers, senior sheikhs and officials. Senior attendees included Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and other leading members of the UAE’s ruling families and government. The gathering honoured the nation’s unity, heritage, development and future ambitions while paying tribute to the legacy of the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Historical artefacts from the Zayed National Museum collection illustrated the UAE’s long history and regional connections. Highlights included the Abu Dhabi Pearl, a natural pearl estimated to be around 8,000 years old; Bronze Age swords from the Saruq Al Hadid site; carnelian beads dating to roughly 5,000 years ago; the early regional Abiel coin; and a kamal, a traditional wooden navigational device used for measuring star positions. The display also featured a 1966 Chrysler Newport once used by the late Sheikh Zayed and a reconstructed Magan boat representing ancient maritime trade. A creative and technical programme accompanied the exhibition, combining light displays, traditional Emirati-inspired costumes, orchestral music and folk performances that showcased artists of different ages and backgrounds. The UAE National Orchestra gave a special debut performance capturing the country’s spirit and unity. The ceremony was livestreamed across official Eid Al Etihad digital platforms so residents and those who call the UAE home could join the celebration.
