Abu Dhabi, March 18 — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Abdullah bin Zayed has strongly condemned recent Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates and expressed his condolences to the families of those killed.
The UAE Foreign Ministry identified the victims as Alaa Nader Awni (State of Palestine); Murib Zaman Nizar, Muzaffar Ali Ghulam, and Ismail Salim Khan (Pakistan); Ahmed Ali (Bangladesh); and Dibas Shrestha (Nepal).
In a statement, Abdullah bin Zayed called the strikes “unprovoked terrorist attacks” against the UAE, saying they have persisted for 18 consecutive days and have involved more than 2,000 ballistic and cruise missiles and drones directed at civilian infrastructure, airports, residential areas and other civilian sites across the country.
He said the escalation is a clear violation of UAE sovereignty and a serious threat to regional and international security and stability, and reiterated the country’s firm condemnation of attacks on civilians and critical facilities.
The minister cited United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, co-sponsored by 136 UN member states, which demands that Iran immediately and unconditionally cease these attacks against the Gulf states and Jordan and affirms Iran’s liability for damages and losses suffered by affected countries.
Abdullah bin Zayed said the UAE reserves the full right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, national security and territorial integrity, and to ensure the safety of its citizens and residents, invoking its inherent right of self-defence under international law. He added that national authorities remain fully prepared to respond to any threats and that the security situation in the country is stable, with preparedness levels at their highest.
The minister also thanked more than 130 countries for their support and solidarity, saying the international backing reflects confidence in the UAE and its long-standing role in responsible diplomacy and regional stability.
Separately, Australia’s Department of Defence confirmed that an Iranian strike impacted an area at Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE on Wednesday morning. No casualties were reported, but the strike caused minor damage to an accommodation block and a medical facility in the Australian section of the base.
