Tel Aviv, December 3 — Israel’s education system will observe a Day of Appreciation for IDF wounded and victims of terror on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Schools across the country will mark the day with values-based lessons, personal encounters, emotional preparation and visits to sites of remembrance and heroism, all intended to teach students about coping, hope and resilience.
The idea originated with the Bnei Akiva youth movement and subsequently received government support. By bringing the stories of wounded soldiers into classrooms and community settings, educators aim to give students a human perspective on national events and to show how individuals confront adversity and rebuild their lives.
Programming will differ by age group. Elementary schools will run activities that honor wounded servicemembers, while high schools will organize face-to-face meetings with injured soldiers, visits to warrior homes and memorial sites, and community service projects. The planned sequence—preparation, meeting and follow-up—seeks to help students internalize lessons about personal resilience and civic responsibility.
In addition, a national marching event called “Marching and Saluting” is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, along the Israel Trail as part of the Shelah and Yedi Ha’aretz tours. During those marches, students will encounter wounded soldiers in the field to convey appreciation and gratitude.
