Washington DC, December 10 (ANI) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday again claimed he had intervened to halt the India-Pakistan clashes that occurred in May. Speaking at an event in Pennsylvania on the economy, he said that within 10 months he had ended eight conflicts, naming disputes such as Kosovo-Serbia, India-Pakistan, Israel-Iran, Egypt-Ethiopia and Armenia-Azerbaijan, and added that a fresh flare-up between Cambodia and Thailand required a phone call from him to stop it.
Trump said his administration was ‘‘making peace through strength’’ and described plans to contact leaders of the two Southeast Asian countries. He has repeatedly asserted he used trade measures to prevent a broader India-Pakistan war and has claimed his intervention resolved the situation within 24 hours, a characterization that Indian officials have denied.
The May exchanges followed Indian precision strikes on militant camps in Pakistan, an operation Indian authorities described as a response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 civilians. Trump made a similar claim on November 19 during a White House meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, saying he had halted eight wars during his presidency.
