Jamshoro, Pakistan — On December 8 the Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) organised a large, orderly cultural rally in Jamshoro to mark Sindhi Unity and Cultural Day and press for the recovery of forcibly disappeared activists. The procession was led by District President Saeed Tiyoono along with Khan Sindhi, Sarmad Ali Qureshi, Majid Sindhi and other party members.
The march set out from Sindh University Colony, passed the District Press Club and Jamshoro Colony, and concluded at the bank of the Indus River, where participants joined in the national anthem. Attendees, dressed in traditional Sindhi ajrak and caps and carrying Sindhudesh flags, paraded through neighbourhoods and main thoroughfares holding banners, placards and posters bearing the images of missing political activists. They chanted firm but peaceful slogans including: “Your land, my land, Sindhudesh, Sindhudesh.”
A joint statement from JSFM’s central leadership reiterated the rally’s dual focus on cultural identity and human rights. The leadership named in the statement included Chairman Sohail Abro, Vice Chairman Zubair Sindhi, General Secretary Amar Azadi, Party Spokesperson Mansoor Ahmed Hubb, Central Joint Secretary Farhan Sindhi, Finance Secretary Hafeez Deshi, Media Secretary Mark Sindhu and Liaison Secretary Hosho Sindhi. International chapter coordinators listed were Osama Somro (UK), Ali Sindhi Nonari (Germany) and Abdul Sattar Bhatti (Netherlands).
The statement traced Sindh’s cultural heritage back thousands of years and highlighted a history of resistance to foreign rule, citing figures from Raja Dahir to modern-era activists and martyrs. It said Sindh has repeatedly resisted invasions and occupations yet continues to protect its identity, language, land and resources.
JSFM called on Sindhis to defend their heritage through political, democratic and peaceful means and said millions had reaffirmed their cultural claim by raising the flag of freedom on Cultural Day. Chairman Sohail Abro also appealed to international bodies, the United Nations, global human rights organisations and the broader international community to take serious note of enforced disappearances, political repression and human rights abuses in Sindh and to lend moral support to the Sindhi people’s peaceful democratic efforts.
