Jerusalem, March 25 — The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said on Wednesday that Israeli air forces struck two facilities in Tehran involved in the development and production of long‑range naval cruise missiles.
In a post on X, the IDF said IAF fighter jets targeted ‘‘facilities used by the Iranian regime to develop and manufacture long‑range naval cruise missiles capable of destroying targets at sea and on land.’’ The military also reported a strike on a central explosives production plant in Isfahan that it said had previously been targeted and where efforts to restore weapons‑related capabilities were detected.
The IDF said dozens of additional targets were hit in the same operations, including ballistic missile launch sites, weapons production facilities and air defence systems. According to the military, more than 3,000 strikes across Iran have been carried out since the start of Operation Roaring Lion. The IDF added that the previous day it had targeted IRGC command centres, weapons storage sites and aerial defences, and that on Tuesday it struck more than 50 targets including ballistic missile storage and launch locations.
Israel’s Health Ministry reported that 204 people were admitted to hospitals in the past 24 hours due to the conflict with Iran, bringing total hospitalisations related to the fighting to 5,045 since the start of the war on February 28. Of those treated in the last day, one was listed in serious condition, nine in moderate condition and 184 in good condition. The ministry said 120 people remain hospitalised.
Separately, former US President Donald Trump said negotiations were underway with Iran and predicted the war would end, asserting that Iranian military capabilities had been severely degraded. ‘‘We’re in negotiations right now. I can tell you, they’d like to make a deal… Their navy’s gone, their air force is gone, their communications are gone,’’ he was quoted as saying.
There was no formal response from Iran to that statement. Iranian officials denied reports of negotiations with the US, saying peace would only come if the US and Israel ceased their campaign. Iran’s military continued retaliatory strikes, which the IDF described as recurring waves of attacks; analysts say the exchanges have so far kept a negotiated resolution out of reach.
