Tel Aviv, March 8 — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that Israel will press its campaign against Iran “with all our might” until its objectives are met, praising the defence forces and the public for their resolve as regional tensions rise.
In a Hebrew video message shared on X, Netanyahu described Israel as “in the midst of a fateful campaign for our existence,” saying that in the past week the country “acted with strength, initiative, and determination” and will continue to act until all goals are achieved. He saluted pilots, fighters, ground crews, security and rescue forces, and Israeli citizens for their “steadfast spirit, responsibility, and courageous stand,” and said the campaign had changed the face of the Middle East. “Together, we will roar like a lion,” he added, saying Israel will ensure its continuity “with God’s help.”
Netanyahu said success would remove a nuclear threat, bring peace between Israel and Iran, and expand what he called “the circle of peace” around Israel. He also asserted that recent Iranian actions had endangered neighbouring states, saying Iran had attacked 12 countries in recent days and that many nations are now seeking cooperation with Israel.
The remarks came as the Israel Defense Forces said it struck two main ballistic missile production sites in Parchin and Shahrud. The IDF said targets included factories producing explosive materials for warheads, facilities supplying specialized raw materials for missile engines, a missile-engine mixing and casting plant, and a complex used for research, development, assembly and production of advanced cruise missiles. The IDF posted on X that hundreds of IAF fighter jets had struck Iranian production industries involved in missile and weapons development.
Several regional incidents were reported amid the fighting. Dubai authorities confirmed the death of a Pakistani driver in Al Barsha after debris from an aerial interception fell on a vehicle; a separate minor facade incident occurred at a Dubai Marina tower with no injuries reported. Al Jazeera Breaking reported air strikes on an oil storage facility in Tehran. Iran’s IRNA, citing the IRGC, claimed a refinery in Haifa was struck by “Kheibarshekan” missiles, and Hezbollah said it launched missiles at the Haifa naval base and fired rockets at Kiryat Shmona.
The Jerusalem Post, citing IDF sources, reported that the Israeli Air Force attacked significant oil resources in the Tehran region believed to be linked to Iran’s military-industrial complex.
The conflict has widened following a joint US-Israel strike on February 28 inside Iran that, according to reports, killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior figures. Tehran retaliated by launching ballistic missiles and drones at US assets and regional partners, including Israel, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, further escalating the crisis and increasing risks to civilians and expatriates.
