Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has proposed naming a main road in Hyderabad that runs beside the US Consulate General as ‘Donald Trump Avenue’ to attract international attention ahead of the Telangana Rising Global Summit.
The proposal is part of a wider initiative to honour prominent global companies and business leaders. Other suggested names include ‘Google Street’, ‘Microsoft Road’ and ‘Wipro Junction’. A 100-metre stretch of the Greenfield Radial Road is proposed to be named after Padma Bhushan Ratan Tata, while the Raviryala interchange has already been designated the ‘Tata Interchange’.
Reddy said the plan is intended both as a tribute to influential figures and corporations and as a way to inspire commuters and raise Hyderabad’s global profile. The Telangana Rising Global Summit, set for December 8-9, aims to position the state as a centre for innovation-driven development and to attract overseas investment and partnerships.
Union Minister and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar reacted critically on X, saying the state should restore the city’s historical name ‘Bhagyanagar’ and accusing the Congress government of renaming places after those who are currently trending.
