Iranian state media Press TV reported on Monday that Hezbollah conducted 63 military operations against Israeli positions and army facilities over the preceding 24 hours.
According to a Hezbollah statement cited by Press TV, the strikes were carried out to “defend” Lebanese territory and civilians and were framed as retaliation for recent Israeli attacks. The group said the actions included rocket barrages, offensive drone strikes and artillery fire directed at Israeli military concentrations, armoured vehicles, bases and troop deployment sites along the border.
The Times of Israel said a Hezbollah rocket struck a home in the northern town of Ma’alot-Tarshiha, lightly injuring five people. That outlet reported several rockets were fired into northern Israel over the weekend, causing damage to buildings and infrastructure.
Separately, the Israeli Air Force destroyed a bridge over Lebanon’s Litani River on Sunday, saying Hezbollah had been using it to move fighters and weaponry into southern Lebanon. Lebanon’s government condemned the strike on the Qasmiya Bridge as a “dangerous escalation” and called on the international community to act to prevent a wider expansion of Israeli operations in Lebanon.
Israeli strikes, including air raids and attacks on crossings, have intensified in recent weeks; the Times of Israel reported the Qasmiya Bridge was the fifth bridge targeted by Israel since March 2.
