Qatar authorities say fires at the Ras Laffan industrial area have been brought under control and no injuries were reported. The Ministry of Interior said civil defence teams fully contained the blazes and continued cooling and securing operations, while an explosives unit from the Internal Security Force worked to neutralize any hazardous parts.
The Ministry of Defence said Ras Laffan Industrial City was struck by ballistic missiles it attributed to Iran, causing extensive damage. Officials described the incident as the second attack on the world’s largest liquefaction facility within 12 hours.
QatarEnergy confirmed several of its LNG facilities were hit in the early hours after the initial strike, triggering significant fires. Emergency teams were deployed immediately to limit damage, and the energy company reported no casualties.
Former US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that Washington had no prior knowledge of the attacks and blamed Israel, alleging it had struck Iran’s South Pars gas field in retaliation. He warned that the United States would not hesitate to authorize force against Tehran if Qatar’s energy infrastructure were hit again.
In response to the strikes, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared the military and security attaches at the Iranian embassy, and their staff, persona non grata and ordered them to leave the country within 24 hours.
