Balochistan, Feb. 27 — Unidentified gunmen set up roadblocks and carried out snap inspections on two major highways in Surab and Kech districts on Thursday, local outlets reported.
On the Karachi–Quetta N-25 in Surab, attackers erected a blockade and opened fire when a police convoy arrived, sparking a clash. An armoured police vehicle was reportedly destroyed in an explosion and one officer, identified as Khalil Ahmed, was killed, according to The Balochistan Post (TBP).
In Kech district, armed men attacked a police station on the Zubaida Jalal Highway near Kalatuk on the outskirts of Turbat. Reports say the assailants briefly detained police personnel, seized weapons, set the station on fire and damaged surveillance cameras. They also imposed roadblocks and conducted snap checks for roughly two hours. A Pakistani military convoy later reached the scene and an exchange of fire followed; casualty figures from that clash have not been confirmed.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks on Feb. 27, and local authorities said search operations are ongoing.
Separately, on Feb. 26 the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for a series of earlier strikes. The BLF said its fighters attacked a Pakistani Army checkpost in Dokhani, Kulanch, Pasni on Feb. 24, alleging five military personnel were killed and several injured. The group also claimed assaults on security checkposts on Gazzi Road in Kharan and along the CPEC route in the Singai area of Dasht, and said it intercepted a vehicle carrying supplies between Niwano and Gesherdan in Zamuran, seizing food and other materials.
These accounts are based on reports cited by TBP and ANI; details have not been independently verified and authorities continue operations in affected areas.
