New Delhi, December 12 — Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava met a Danish delegation led by Denmark’s Ambassador to India, Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, to discuss existing and potential areas of bilateral cooperation. The Ministry of Health said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen collaboration on health, food and agriculture, and to advance the countries’ Green Strategic Partnership.
Officials stressed a shared goal of building resilient, sustainable and future-ready systems that benefit both nations. The talks highlighted mutual intent to bolster cooperation across public health, agricultural value chains and green technologies.
India and Denmark elevated their relationship to a Green Strategic Partnership in September 2020, expanding on a Joint Commission for Cooperation set up in February 2009. That upgrade, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen at a virtual summit, broadened cooperation across political, economic and commercial ties, science and technology, environment, energy, education and culture.
The Green Strategic Partnership complements existing joint working groups on renewable energy, urban development, environment, agriculture and animal husbandry, food processing, science and innovation, shipping, labour mobility and digitisation. The framework aims to boost political coordination, expand economic links and promote green growth, while creating jobs and enhancing joint responses to global challenges, including committed implementation of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
