PTI — Kathmandu: Police in Nepal’s Lumbini province said on Tuesday that three people, including two Indian nationals, were arrested in connection with drug trafficking in Rupandehi district, which borders India.
Authorities identified the two Indians as Arun Kumar, 18, and Binaya Pandey, 20, both from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh. A Nepali national, Bishal Yadav, was also taken into custody, police said.
Officers recovered a total of 3,300 ampoules of medications including Phenergan, diazepam and Brufen from the suspects. The drugs, which can cause drowsiness and dizziness, were being transported on a motorcycle registered in India, and the trio were reportedly coming from across the border, authorities added.
Police said further investigation has been launched to determine the origin of the shipment and whether additional individuals or routes are involved. Authorities are continuing inquiries and have not yet released information about any charges filed against the detained individuals.
