Tehran — Iranian authorities said Saturday that security forces dismantled a ‘terrorist cell’ in northern Golestan province and detained two suspects accused of planning an armed attack, according to Tasnim News Agency. Intelligence units reportedly identified the group through surveillance and public tips, and Tasnim cited alleged links to the United States and Israel. Officials said the suspects were arrested before they could carry out an operation targeting security forces. A raid on a Gorgan hideout recovered four Colt rifles and 43 rounds of ammunition.
In related incidents across the region, the Jerusalem Post reported that four drones entered Israeli airspace from Lebanon on Saturday morning. Israeli air defenses intercepted three of the drones; a fourth remained airborne over the Haifa Bay area while security teams worked to neutralize it. No injuries or damage were reported.
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry posted a public safety alert on X after warning sirens sounded, urging residents to stay calm and move to the nearest safe location.
Earlier in the day, the Israel Defense Forces said a missile launched from Yemen toward Israel marked the first Houthi attack since ‘Operation Roaring Lion’ began a month ago. Israeli air-defense systems were activated and sirens sounded across Beersheba and nearby Negev communities; there were no immediate reports of casualties or direct impacts.
Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it targeted six US-operated tactical vessels in Persian Gulf waters and said many American personnel were killed. The IRGC described the action as a hybrid naval operation carried out as part of the 84th wave of ‘Operation True Promise 4,’ striking locations at al-Shoyoukh port and along Dubai’s coasts and port.
These developments come amid rising tensions across West Asia.
