Abu Dhabi [UAE], March 4 (ANI): Amid escalating conflict in West Asia, Akasa Air said it will operate a special flight from the UAE on Wednesday to help return affected passengers and crew, and will run selected services to and from Saudi Arabia.
The low-cost carrier said flight QP 585 from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai will depart at 16:00 local time (17:30 IST).
Besides the Abu Dhabi service, Akasa will operate select flights connecting Jeddah with Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru on March 4 and March 5. On March 4, flights are scheduled between Mumbai and Jeddah and between Ahmedabad and Jeddah. On March 5, services will operate between Mumbai and Jeddah as well as between Bengaluru and Jeddah.
The airline said these operations are based on its current safety assessment and may change depending on conditions. Akasa Air flights to and from Doha, Kuwait City and Riyadh will remain suspended until March 5.
The airline reiterated that passenger and crew safety is its highest priority.
Air Arabia said it has temporarily suspended flights to and from the UAE until Monday, March 9, until 15:00 (UAE time). A limited number of flights are operating in coordination with authorities and subject to operational and safety approvals. Passengers on operating flights will be notified directly; others were advised not to travel to the airport unless contacted by the airline.
The moves come amid rising tensions in West Asia after a joint US-Israel military strike on Iranian territory on Saturday that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other senior figures, prompting strong retaliation from Tehran.
In response, Iran launched waves of drone and missile attacks across multiple Arab countries, and has targeted American military bases and Israeli assets in the region. Israel has continued strikes on Tehran and expanded operations to Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah. (ANI)
