New Delhi / Beijing, December 13, 2025 — India’s Joint Secretary (East Asia) Sujit Ghosh held a round of talks in Beijing with Liu Jinsong, Director‑General of the Department of Asian Affairs at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed at consolidating recent positive momentum in bilateral ties.
Yu Jing, spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in India, described the consultations as “timely and productive,” saying the meeting welcomed the improved trajectory of relations and reiterated both sides’ commitment to implementing the understandings reached at the Tianjin summit between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Officials from both countries agreed to advance people‑to‑people exchanges, restore institutional dialogue, properly manage differences, and deepen coordination on multilateral and regional issues. They also underlined support for multilateralism and the protection of shared interests of the Global South.
The Indian delegation said the discussions were constructive and forward‑looking. Both sides credited strategic guidance from their leaders for recent stabilization efforts and gave an upbeat assessment of progress in rebuilding trust, with an emphasis on people‑centric engagement. They reviewed planned exchanges and activities for the coming year.
New Delhi highlighted the need for an early resolution of outstanding export‑control matters. Regional and global developments of mutual interest were also touched on during the consultations.
Ghosh, who was in Beijing from December 11–12, 2025, met Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and held separate talks with Liu Jinsong on December 11, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said. He also conferred with officials at China’s Ministry of Commerce to discuss bilateral trade and commercial issues.
Both sides characterized the meetings as held in a positive atmosphere and as producing meaningful consensus on next steps to stabilise and advance India‑China relations.
