A US-based doctor visiting Bengaluru for her nephew’s wedding has alleged that gold jewellery worth about Rs 1 crore was stolen from a marriage hall on Old Madras Road, police said. According to the complaint, she arrived from the US on April 18 to attend the wedding and was staying with her brother in Ganganagar. She had brought roughly 725 grams of gold ornaments for the occasion.
The doctor told police she wore some pieces but left the remaining jewellery locked in a room at the wedding venue on April 22. When she returned later, the valuables were missing. She said a female staff member of the hall had entered the room while she was changing and left soon after; the doctor suspects that worker, the FIR said.
Avalahalli police registered a case under Section 305 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and said the matter is under investigation.
