Washington DC [US], December 10 (ANI): US President Donald Trump on Wednesday again claimed he had stopped the India-Pakistan clash that took place in May.
Speaking on the economy in Pennsylvania, Trump said that during 10 months he had ended eight wars, citing Kosovo-Serbia, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and mentioning Cambodia and Thailand as a current flare-up he expected to phone about.
“In 10 months, I ended eight wars, including Kosovo-Serbia, Pakistan and India. They were going at it. Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia. Armenia and Azerbaijan. I hate to say this, Cambodia and Thailand started up today. Tomorrow I have to make a phone call…I’m going to make a phone call and stop a war of two very powerful countries, Thailand and Cambodia. They’re going at it again. But I’ll do it. So we’re making peace through strength,” he said.
On November 19, Trump similarly asserted he had halted eight wars during his presidency, including one between India and Pakistan, during a bilateral Oval Office meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the prince’s first Washington visit since Jamal Khashoggi’s killing in 2018.
Trump has repeatedly said he used trade tariffs to avert a potential large-scale India-Pakistan war, claiming his intervention “settled” the situation within 24 hours — a characterization India has denied.
He was referring to the border exchanges after India’s precision strikes in May on Pakistani terror camps under Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 civilians. (ANI)
