Brasilia, December 11 (ANI): Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff, on an official visit to Brazil, met Celso Amorim, Chief Advisor to the President, and H.E. José Múcio Monteiro, Minister of Defence, the Indian Navy said. The meetings reviewed plans to expand India–Brazil defence engagement and focused on enhancing strategic cooperation and bilateral defence ties.
Both sides discussed deeper defence industry collaboration and capability-building initiatives designed to support long-term interoperability and shared security objectives. Deliberations addressed regional and global dynamics — including the South Atlantic, the broader Indo-Pacific, and the role of the Global South — reflecting a common commitment to a secure, stable, rules-based international order. The Indian Navy said these high-level exchanges reaffirmed strategic convergence and a mutual pledge to elevate India–Brazil defence cooperation in the spirit of “Bridges of Friendship.”
Admiral Tripathi also held talks with Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, Commander of the Brazilian Navy, to advance naval cooperation across defence industry partnerships, technology development, innovation, exchange of best practices, and capacity building. The Indian Navy spokesperson noted discussions on operational engagements, training exchanges, hydrographic collaboration, information sharing, and potential measures to strengthen Maritime Domain Awareness.
The apex-level engagement, the Navy added, underscores both navies’ resolve to deepen strategic convergence and strengthen the India–Brazil maritime partnership, contributing to stability in the global maritime commons, particularly among nations of the Global South.
