The Pakistan Navy rendered humanitarian aid to the crew of the Indian offshore tug and supply vessel MV Gautam after it became stranded in the Arabian Sea, Dawn reported citing security sources. The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) joined the response when the Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre in Mumbai contacted Pakistani authorities to request assistance.
The vessel, en route from Oman to India, reported a technical fault. The seven-member crew — six Indian nationals and one Indonesian — received emergency support including food, medical attention and technical assistance, and efforts to help the vessel were ongoing, the report said.
The incident follows a similar response last month when the Pakistan Navy rescued 18 crew members, including foreign nationals, from a merchant ship after a distress call in the Arabian Sea.
