Washington, April 7 — Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra and U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor met in Washington to discuss ways to deepen bilateral strategic cooperation. Kwatra, posting about the meeting on X, said it was good to reconnect with Gor and that he values the ambassador’s partnership as both sides press to achieve the goals set by their leaders for the India–U.S. strategic relationship.
Gor described the partnership as a “strategic relationship” and outlined recent engagements during his Washington visit. He met with FBI Director Kash Patel to discuss U.S.–India cooperation against transnational threats, including cybercrime, narcotics trafficking and illicit networks, and praised Patel’s performance. Gor cited FBI figures for 2025 — a reported 112% year‑to‑year increase in violent crime arrests and 20% decreases in both homicides and robberies — while stressing strong alignment on security priorities.
The U.S. ambassador also met Vice President J.D. Vance to review India–U.S. ties, thanking him for his leadership and attention to the relationship and noting that, under President Trump’s leadership, the White House is fully engaged in the region. Gor is scheduled to dine with President Trump around the time a recently extended deadline for Iran to reach a deal is set to expire.
In a prior interview with Span Magazine, Gor said President Trump regards Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a true friend and called it a privilege to work on strengthening mutually beneficial ties between the two countries. (ANI)
