Baghdad, March 30 — Iraq’s Kataib Hezbollah has welcomed the official entry of Yemen’s Houthi movement (Ansar Allah) into the wider conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran that began on February 28, 2026.
In a statement carried by Iranian state media Press TV, Kataib Hezbollah Secretary-General Hajj Abu Hussein Al-Hamidawi called the Houthis’ involvement a “divine reinforcement” and a “qualitative addition” to the so-called “Axis of Resistance.” He praised the “Lions of Yemen” for confronting what he described as “Zionist‑American aggression,” saying their participation brings “heralds of goodness and blessing” in keeping with religious precepts.
Al-Hamidawi urged broader Arab and Syrian support for the Palestinian cause, framing it as a collective duty to defend “the sanctity of Islam and human dignity” amid what he called a difficult situation for Palestinians. He also praised Hezbollah in Lebanon as “the crown jewel of the resistance,” crediting the group with significant sacrifices for Palestine, including during the Al-Aqsa Flood operation.
The statement criticized Syrian opposition leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani, accusing him and his group of aligning with “enemy projects” and calling on Syrians to restore their country’s role within the resistance axis.
Addressing operations inside Iraq, Al-Hamidawi said the focus should be on “quality, not quantity,” and warned of intensified actions against US forces. Quoting him, Press TV reported that fighters in Iraq would “crush the head of the American aggressor.” He also targeted US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing them of trying to destabilize Iran and asserting that their efforts have backfired amid growing dissent. “War is a conflict of wills,” he added, saying signs of a weakening enemy will are visible.
Separately, Yemen’s Houthi movement announced a “second military operation” against Israel, saying on Telegram that it launched cruise missiles and drones at what it called “vital and military sites” in southern occupied Palestine. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree described the action as part of the “Holy Jihad Battle,” saying it coincided with operations by allied forces, including groups in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and that the operation “successfully achieved its objectives.” The Houthis’ announcement followed their formal entry into the regional fighting earlier on Saturday.
