Support for Sci-Tech
The proceeds from this event are crucial for the Sci-Tech Center as they work to restore their facilities. Earlier this year, heavy flooding caused by a malfunctioning valve in the fire suppression system resulted in up to three feet of water accumulating in the basement, leading to significant damage. The incident stemmed from a burst valve that allowed a high-pressure stream of water to enter the building.
Although the center is currently closed for repairs, the Sci-Tech team remains committed to engaging the community through various programs. They continue to offer public and classroom activities throughout the region, including:
- Telescope astronomy nights
- Interactive displays at local fairs and festivals
Additionally, many hands-on exhibits have found a temporary home at Zoo-New York, located in Thompson Park, where they can be enjoyed during regular zoo hours.
