Corrections Policy
How Express News Network corrects errors and how readers can report a mistake.
Express News Network is committed to accuracy. Despite our best efforts, mistakes sometimes happen. When they do, we believe in correcting them quickly and transparently, so that our readers can trust what we publish.
How to report an error
If you believe we have published something that is inaccurate, email [email protected]. To help us look into it, please include:
- the headline or a link to the article;
- the specific statement you believe is incorrect;
- what you believe is correct, with any supporting evidence or sources.
Every report is reviewed by our editorial team. We may contact you for more information.
How we correct
When we establish that an article contains a factual error, we amend the article and, where the error is significant, add a note explaining what was changed and when. We do not quietly rewrite stories to conceal mistakes.
- Corrections are made for errors of fact -- a wrong name, figure, date, quotation or attribution.
- Clarifications are added where an article was accurate but could reasonably have been misunderstood, or lacked important context.
- Updates are made when a developing story changes. They reflect new information, not an error in the original report.
Errors in source material
Where an error originates in material from a news agency or other source that we have credited, we will correct our article once the error is established, and note where appropriate that the correction reflects a change in the source's reporting.
Requests to remove content
We do not remove accurate journalism simply because its subject would prefer it not to be published. Requests to update, anonymise or remove an article are considered case by case, taking into account accuracy, the public interest, the passage of time, and any legal obligations.
