Tehran, March 26 (ANI) — Israeli media reported on Thursday that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy commander Alireza Tangsiri was killed in a strike in Bandar Abbas, citing an unnamed Israeli official. There was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities or from the Israeli military.
The Times of Israel said Tangsiri had been involved in measures to close the Strait of Hormuz. The claim of his death has not been independently verified.
Separately, the IRGC said it had launched a fresh series of operations against US military installations across the region in retaliation for earlier strikes on Iranian infrastructure and civilian sites in northern Iran. The IRGC described these actions as part of “Operation True Promise 4,” saying Iranian forces and allied groups have carried out dozens of missile and drone waves targeting Israeli military sites and US bases and assets across West Asia.
In a statement, the IRGC claimed its forces had executed 82 waves of missile and drone attacks using what it called advanced weaponry. The statement also said Lebanon’s Hezbollah and armed groups in Iraq had joined the campaign against what Iran termed external aggressors, dealing heavy blows.
The IRGC warned against any ground operation on Iranian soil, saying: “Don’t send your children to hell with the deceit of Netanyahu and Trump. The invading soldiers will be deeply drowned and disappear in the million-strong sea of the Iranian nation.” In an appeal aimed at American audiences, the IRGC accused leaders such as Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu of misleading their populations and said: “The truth of the war you must observe at American gas stations, on the streets of Iran, and in the skies of Tel Aviv and Haifa.” These are the IRGC’s characterizations and have not been independently confirmed.
US planning: A CBS report said the Pentagon is expected to deploy elements of the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, including a command component and some ground forces, according to a source familiar with planning. The report said a possible ground operation on Kharg Island is being considered.
The IRGC also claimed that precision-guided Emad, Qiam, Khorramshahr-4 and Qadr missiles struck more than 70 locations across Israel in what it called the 81st wave of Operation True Promise 4, and asserted hits in Haifa, Dimona, Al-Khudriyya near Haifa and areas north and south of Tel Aviv. These claims come from Iranian sources and have not been verified by independent parties.
