Tehran, March 6 (ANI): The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says Iran is fully prepared for a “prolonged war” and is getting ready to unveil a new class of strategic weapons that have “not yet been seen on the battlefield,” state broadcaster Press TV reported.
Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini, speaking for the IRGC, said Iran is prepared for an extended confrontation aimed at “punishing the aggressor,” and that the operations so far in the “True Promise 4 Operation” have “only utilised a fraction of Iran’s actual capabilities.”
Naeini warned that “Iran’s new initiatives and weapons are on the way,” adding these advanced systems “have not yet been deployed on a large scale” and that “the enemy should expect painful blows in every upcoming operational wave.”
The remarks came as Khayber missiles were reportedly launched toward Tel Aviv, described in reports as having “demonstrated a high degree of precision,” a development that could signal an escalation in regional tensions.
Responding to the situation, United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth warned Iran not to miscalculate Washington’s resolve, saying U.S. forces are prepared to continue military operations decisively. Speaking at a press conference at U.S. Central Command, Hegseth said Iran’s leadership would be mistaken to assume the U.S. cannot sustain the campaign.
“Iran is hoping that we cannot sustain this, which is a really bad miscalculation for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran,” he said. “Our commitment to our mission objectives only increases as our advantages continue to increase… We have only just begun to fight and fight decisively,” he added, indicating readiness for a prolonged confrontation if needed. Hegseth also dismissed concerns about a potential influx of refugees to the United States from the expanding Middle East conflict: “I think it’s safe to say there’s no plan for a wave of new Middle Eastern refugees to the United States of America.”
Tensions surged after a reported joint U.S.-Israel strike on Iranian territory on February 28 that the article says resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other senior figures, drawing fierce Iranian retaliation. In response, Iran launched waves of drone and missile attacks targeting American military bases across multiple Arab countries as the conflict entered its sixth day. At the same time, Israel continued strikes on Tehran and expanded operations into Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) posted on X that it eliminated a senior Hezbollah commander, Zaid Ali Jumaa, in Beirut, accusing him of overseeing large-scale rocket and missile attacks against Israel from southern Lebanon. The IDF said Jumaa served as Hezbollah’s head of artillery in southern Lebanon and was responsible for launching “thousands of rockets, missiles, and UAVs from Lebanon toward Israel.” “He also led the 2015 anti-tank missile attack in Mount Dov that killed an IDF officer and soldier,” the IDF added.
