Tehran, March 19 — Iran’s UN envoy, Amir Saeid Iravani, has formally informed the UN Secretary‑General and Security Council that the United Arab Emirates is “internationally responsible” for permitting US forces to use Emirati territory for attacks, Iranian state media reported. Press TV says Iran is demanding full compensation from the UAE for related damages.
Iranian military officials say Tehran and allied regional groups continue retaliatory operations against the United States and Israel. On March 18 the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army carried out multiple strikes under “Operation True Promise 4,” which Tehran says was launched in response to an “unprovoked act of aggression” by a US‑Israeli coalition on February 28.
Since that operation began, Iranian forces have reportedly carried out 63 waves of missile and drone strikes using advanced weaponry. Iranian outlets say the strikes have targeted Israeli military facilities in the occupied territories as well as US bases and assets across the wider West Asia region.
These actions follow a recent Iranian strike on the UAE’s Habshan gas facility and the Bab field, attacks that Abu Dhabi called a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law. In response to the heightened tensions, the UAE Ministry of Defence has been publicizing the country’s military capabilities and defensive measures.
Along Lebanon’s border, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported that more than 20 Hezbollah fighters were killed during ground operations in southern Lebanon. The IDF attributed the casualties to troops from its 36th Division and to Israeli Air Force strikes. In one encounter, Golani Brigade soldiers said they discovered a Hezbollah cell preparing to fire anti‑tank missiles; the IDF reported killing five operatives and seizing weapons including RPGs and anti‑tank systems.
The IDF also said it is preparing to deploy additional forces in southern Lebanon and to expand a buffer zone intended to push Hezbollah elements further from the border.
