Geneva, March 24 (ANI) — At the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Hansraj Singh, Strategic and Partnership Officer at Sambhali Trust, highlighted India’s expanding role in translating human rights commitments into grassroots action.
In an oral statement, Singh welcomed the adoption of outcomes under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), calling the mechanism a vital forum for dialogue, cooperation and inclusive progress among nations. He emphasized India’s growing focus on community-level education, women’s empowerment and skills development as central to that progress.
Drawing on Sambhali Trust’s work, Singh said locally led initiatives—particularly vocational training and programs for women—are creating sustainable livelihoods, restoring dignity and driving social transformation. He argued that these community-based models demonstrate how international human rights commitments can be converted into concrete improvements in access to education, economic independence and social inclusion.
Singh urged stronger partnerships between governments and civil society and called for continued knowledge sharing and capacity-building to scale effective programs and amplify their global impact. Reaffirming the organization’s commitment, he said Sambhali Trust will continue working toward inclusive, sustainable development, presenting India as an example of grassroots-driven progress on the world stage.
