Kuwait City, March 30 — The Indian Embassy in Kuwait expressed deep condolences on Monday after confirming the death of an Indian national in an attack on a desalination facility. The mission said it is working closely with Kuwaiti authorities to provide all possible support and assistance to the victim’s family and to Indian citizens in the country.
In a post on X, the embassy conveyed its sympathy and reiterated its coordination with local officials to ensure necessary consular help.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy reported that an Indian worker was killed and a service building at a major power and water desalination plant suffered significant damage following what officials described as strikes on Sunday evening. The ministry attributed the strikes to Iran and said the impact was concentrated on a service building at the facility.
Technical and emergency teams were deployed immediately under approved emergency plans to manage the aftermath, stabilize operations and secure the site. The ministry said those actions were taken in full coordination with Kuwait’s security and relevant authorities.
A ministry spokesperson urged the public to remain calm and warned against spreading rumours, adding that official updates would be provided transparently as the situation develops.
Indian officials in Kuwait continue to liaise with local authorities to monitor the response and assist affected workers and their families.
