The Israel Defense Forces reported that its troops eliminated two individuals in separate incidents in the northern and southern Gaza Strip after both were assessed to pose an immediate threat. According to the military, on Wednesday forces in northern Gaza identified a person near the Forward Defense Line—also referred to as the Yellow Line—who approached in a way that endangered troops and was subsequently neutralized.
A similar episode occurred in southern Gaza, the IDF added, where forces eliminated an individual who crossed the Yellow Line and advanced toward personnel, creating an immediate threat. The military framed both actions as necessary to remove danger to soldiers on the ground.
Earlier the same day, the IDF said ground and air units struck targets in southern Lebanon after reporting that Hezbollah members crossed the Forward Defense Line and approached Israeli soldiers in the Saluki area. The Israeli Air Force carried out strikes that killed the two people identified as posing an immediate threat, and the IDF stated that operations against Hezbollah-linked infrastructure in the area are continuing.
The military reiterated that it will continue to act to remove any threats to Israeli civilians and its troops.
Following a 10-day ceasefire, on April 19 the IDF released a detailed map of the Forward Defense Line to clarify the operational zone where Israeli forces remain positioned within Lebanese territory. The military said that, despite the truce, a substantial deployment—comprising five divisions and Israeli Navy forces—remains south of the line, a posture the IDF says is needed to change the security reality along the northern border.
