Introduction of the Contra System

Helsing has officially introduced Contra, an advanced air defence system powered by artificial intelligence, aiming to safeguard nations from escalating drone and missile threats. This cutting-edge technology is designed to engage multiple airborne targets, providing robust protection against mass attacks.

Key Components: Interceptors & Technology

Along with the Contra system, Helsing unveiled two innovative interceptors, the AD-1 Inferno and the AD-2 Ambush. These interceptors serve distinct purposes: the AD-1 Inferno is tailored for jet-powered threats, while the AD-2 Ambush is engineered to address high-altitude dangers.

The Contra system effectively utilizes Helsing's Altra command-and-control platform. This allows for seamless integration of data from various sensors, enabling coordination of weapons within a unified air surveillance framework. The system is capable of detecting and engaging hundreds, if not thousands, of threats at once, all while allowing operators to maintain control over decision-making and target prioritization.

AI-Driven Security Solutions

In the words of Niklas Köhler, co-founder and president of Helsing, "Contra resolves the complexities of air defence: it deals effectively with both slow-moving drones and high-cost missiles directed at low-cost, mass-produced targets." Helsing intends to produce these interceptors at its Resilience Factories, although specific pricing information has yet to be revealed.

Our AI technology connects existing sensors and effectors in real-time, further enhancing operational effectiveness with the addition of the AD-1 and AD-2 interceptors. With a focus on jet and rocket propulsion, as well as a cost-efficient all-weather radar seeker, these systems can operate independently while maintaining a reliable supply chain across Europe. They’re designed to provide autonomous fire capability up to 10 kilometers high, all while being produced at industrial scales.

Performance Features of the Interceptors

The AD-1 Inferno is characterized by its jet propulsion capabilities, enabling it to remain in the air longer, coordinate in swarms, and attempt multiple engagements if necessary. In contrast, the solid-rocket-powered AD-2 Ambush is optimized for swift interceptions, boasting impressive specifications including speeds of Mach 2.5 and an operational range surpassing 20 kilometers.

Both interceptors benefit from mid-course guidance provided by Contra's ground-based radar stations. Meanwhile, onboard radar seekers ensure precise targeting through the last stages of interception, regardless of weather conditions.

Integration and Future Prospects

Contra's flexibility is one of its standout features; it supports the integration of third-party interceptors, counter-drone technologies, and various weapons systems, including lasers and net-based devices. Helsing has announced that it can facilitate such integrations in a matter of days and is already demonstrating multiple setups to military clients.

This new system comes as a direct response to the increasing output of Russian jet-powered drones and cruise missiles, with estimates suggesting production levels have reached around 4,000 units a month for the Geran-4 and Geran-5 models. Helsing's intelligence reports indicate that new launch sites are positioning parts of the European Union within potential strike ranges.
