New Delhi, December 3 — National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow held a bilateral meeting in New Delhi to deepen strategic ties and bolster security cooperation, according to the Thai Foreign Ministry. Key topics included maritime security and a coordinated response to transnational online scam networks.
Thailand invited India to the International Conference on Global Partnerships to Combat Online Scams, scheduled for Bangkok on December 17–18, 2025. Officials discussed measures to assist Indian victims and ways to disrupt criminal scam hubs operating along Thailand’s borders with Myanmar and Cambodia.
Both sides exchanged views on regional strategic issues, including support for peace in Myanmar and a peaceful resolution of the Thailand–Cambodia border situation. Thailand urged cooperation from Cambodia on demining along the border.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also met the visiting Thai minister, underlining the long-standing friendship and describing Thailand as an important maritime neighbour. The meetings noted progress across political ties, trade and investment, connectivity, startups, science and technology, innovation, and space cooperation.
Thailand asked for India’s backing for its bid to join BRICS during India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026. The two countries discussed broader geopolitical shifts and expressed willingness to work together in multilateral forums to strengthen regional integration.
Thai officials warned of a surge in cross-border cyber-scam operations and called for urgent, coordinated action with India. They said a recent crackdown led to over 1,000 Indian nationals fleeing to Thailand, where they received emergency assistance, while others may remain trapped in scam hubs run by criminal networks. Both sides agreed to pursue joint efforts to tackle these emerging threats and protect victims.
