The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed Class 10 and 12 board exams scheduled for March 5 in several Middle East locations, officials said. The affected countries include Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said the decision was taken “due to the current situation in parts of the Middle East.” He added that new dates will be announced later and that the board will review the situation on March 5 to decide on any further exams.
The board had earlier postponed an exam scheduled for March 2 in the same region.
The move comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Reports say a major attack on Iran over the weekend resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei; those reports said the death was confirmed on Sunday. US President Donald Trump reportedly stated that heavy, pinpoint bombing of Iran would continue “through the week or as long as necessary.”
