Balochistan [Pakistan], December 11 (ANI): A 22-year-old woman from Sahaky village was critically injured after personnel of Pakistan’s Federal Constabulary (FC) allegedly opened fire in the Balgatar area of Kech district, The Balochistan Post reported.
The victim, identified as Durdana, wife of Nazir Ahmed, was struck by a bullet while preparing the evening meal inside her home, according to local sources. Her uncle said she was hit during nearby gunfire and was bleeding heavily. Family members rushed her to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kech, where doctors recommended an X-ray and further treatment; because the hospital lacked the necessary facilities she was referred to Karachi late that night.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) condemned the incident, accusing security forces of routine indiscriminate firing in populated areas. BYC said multiple checkpoints operate inside civilian localities, drones are frequently used for surveillance, and random gunfire is common, adding that this pattern of operations has made everyday life in Balochistan increasingly unbearable for residents.
Pakistani authorities have not issued an official statement on the Kech incident. Human rights activists and local residents told The Balochistan Post that similar violent encounters have become more frequent across the province, with women and children increasingly injured by stray bullets and shelling during operations.
On November 29, mortar rounds struck a residential home in Hoshab, injuring five young girls; one later died while being taken to Karachi, the report noted. Rights groups warn that the growing frequency of such attacks, coupled with official silence, fosters impunity and deepens mistrust between civilians and security forces, leaving people like Durdana to bear the consequences amid heavy-handed tactics.
