Major carriers cancelled and rerouted flights across the Middle East on Saturday after the United States and Israel carried out strikes on Iran, heightening regional tensions and disrupting air traffic.
Flight-tracking maps from Flightradar24 showed airspace over Iran and Iraq largely empty on Saturday morning.
Below are the latest airline actions, listed alphabetically by carrier:
Air France KLM
Air France cancelled its scheduled flights to and from Tel Aviv and to and from Beirut for Saturday. KLM moved forward its planned suspension of the Amsterdam–Tel Aviv service, cancelling the one flight that had been scheduled for Saturday; the carrier had previously said flights would be halted from Sunday but advanced that date.
Indigo
The Indian budget carrier said it was closely monitoring regional developments and would update operations as needed.
Japan Airlines
Japan Airlines cancelled a Saturday flight from Tokyo Haneda to Doha and the return service scheduled for March 1, Japanese media Nikkei reported.
Lufthansa
The German carrier suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv, Beirut and Oman until March 7, and paused flights to and from Dubai for Saturday and Sunday. Lufthansa also said it would avoid Israeli, Lebanese, Jordanian, Iraqi and Iranian airspace until March 7.
Virgin Atlantic
Virgin Atlantic said it would temporarily avoid Iraqi airspace, which led to some planned rerouting and the cancellation of VS400 from London Heathrow to Dubai on Saturday.
Wizz Air
Wizz Air halted flights to and from Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Amman effective immediately until March 7. The airline said it would continue to review operational decisions and that its schedule could be adjusted as the situation evolved.
Airlines and aviation authorities across the region have been changing routes and schedules rapidly in response to the security situation. Passengers were advised to check directly with airlines for the latest information on cancellations and reroutings.
