Tel Aviv, May 28 (ANI) — The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it struck and killed two senior Hamas operatives in northern Gaza, adding that further details would be released later, Times of Israel reported.
Al Jazeera, citing the Palestine Red Crescent Society, reported that at least four Palestinians were killed and 15 others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a residential house in central Gaza City.
Separately, the Israeli Air Force and IDF confirmed the elimination of Muhammad Odeh in Gaza. Israeli officials described Odeh as the new leader of Hamas’s military wing and one of the architects of the October 7, 2023, attack. The Prime Minister’s Office said the operation was carried out on the instructions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz.
Odeh previously headed Hamas’s intelligence staff during the October 7 assault and was appointed roughly a week ago to replace Ezzedine al-Haddad, who was killed in an IDF strike two weeks earlier. Israeli statements say Odeh was responsible for the murder, abduction and wounding of Israeli civilians and soldiers.
Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed the strike in a post on X, saying Israel had struck Muhammad Odeh and reiterating a vow to pursue those involved in the October 7 attack.
The Israel Defense Forces also said it struck military structures, command centres and rocket-launch sites used by Hezbollah in Lebanon during sustained operations. The military said Israeli forces had hit about 550 Hezbollah targets since the start of the week.
