Washington, May 24, 2026 — Former US President Donald Trump said Sunday that negotiations between the United States and Iran are ‘proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner.’ In a post on Truth Social, he said he has instructed negotiators ‘not to rush into a deal’ and that ‘time is on our side.’
Trump added that the US blockade of ships in the Strait of Hormuz ‘will remain in full force and effect until an agreement is reached, certified and signed.’ He warned both sides should take their time and ‘get it right,’ saying there can be ‘no mistakes.’
He described the US relationship with Iran as becoming ‘much more professional and productive,’ but stressed that Iran must not develop or procure a nuclear weapon or bomb. Trump also criticized the 2015 nuclear accord reached under President Barack Obama and suggested Iran could potentially be included in the Abraham Accords.
