Bishkek, April 28: India on Tuesday presented two BHISHM Cube modular trauma-care systems to Kyrgyz Defence Minister Major General Mukambetov Ruslan Mustafaevich, in a gesture highlighting humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. The handover was made by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a bilateral meeting in Bishkek.
The BHISHM Cubes, developed in India under the Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita & Maitri and forming part of Project Aarogya Maitri, are designed to deliver emergency care within the critical golden hour after injury. Each cube is built from compact, portable mini modules stocked with essential medicines and equipment for rapid field deployment.
The system is modular: 36 mini cubes can be combined into a mother cube, and two mother cubes form a full BHISHM Cube. A complete unit comprises 72 transportable components and can support care for up to 200 cases, including surgical procedures. In mass-casualty situations, a full cube can be set up in about 12 minutes, helping bridge the gap between primary and definitive care.
Cubes are lightweight, waterproof, rugged and designed for versatile delivery—by hand, bicycle, drone, airdrop or conventional ground transport. Critical inventory and advanced equipment are RFID-tagged for rapid location and tracking. Operators can use tablet-accessible software to find items, monitor usage and expiry dates, and maintain readiness; the digital interface supports 180 languages.
BHISHM also incorporates artificial intelligence and data analytics to enhance disaster response through better coordination, real-time monitoring and more efficient field management of medical services.
The systems were presented as part of India’s ongoing efforts to provide medical and humanitarian assistance abroad. Source: ANI.
