New Delhi, April 7 — Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will travel to Washington DC from April 8 to 10 to assess the full spectrum of India‑US ties and discuss regional and global developments, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday.
According to the MEA, the visit will provide an opportunity to review bilateral relations and to advance ongoing cooperation across key areas. Misri is scheduled to hold talks with senior US administration officials on a wide range of issues, including trade, defence, science and technology, as well as regional and global matters of mutual interest.
The ministry noted that the trip follows External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit to Washington in February and reflects the pattern of regular high‑level exchanges between the two countries.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor is also in the United States. During his stay he met his Indian counterpart, Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and emphasized the importance of strategic ties between New Delhi and Washington. Gor also held meetings with Vice President J.D. Vance and FBI Director Kash Patel.
Gor is scheduled to dine with President Trump during the same period, an engagement that coincides with the latest extension of the US deadline for a deal with Iran. In an interview with Span Magazine, Gor said President Trump regards Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a true friend and that the personal rapport between the leaders helps strengthen bilateral cooperation. He described the opportunity to deepen India‑US ties and pursue mutually beneficial goals as a privilege.
