Tehran, April 7 (ANI) — As the countdown continues to US President Donald Trump’s ultimatum for Iran to come to the negotiating table, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said millions of Iranians have declared they are willing to sacrifice their lives to defend the country.
In a post on X, Pezeshkian wrote that “over 14 million proud Iranians have, up to this moment, declared their readiness to sacrifice their lives in defense of Iran. I too have been, am, and will be a sacrificer for Iran.”
Earlier, Iran’s Deputy Sports Minister Alireza Rahimi urged athletes, artists, students and faculty to form “human chains” around power plants as a symbolic and physical deterrent to potential airstrikes. In a video message, he invited youth and cultural figures to gather near power stations at 2 p.m. local time, calling these facilities “our wealth and belongings.”
The call followed Trump’s warning of an “8:00 PM” Washington time deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said failure to comply would prompt a simultaneous, massive bombing campaign targeting Iran’s electric generating plants and bridges, aiming to leave them “burning, exploding, and never to be used again” within a four-hour window.
At a White House briefing, Trump warned, “The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night.” He set an ultimatum for Iran to make a deal by Tuesday 8:00 p.m. ET, adding, “After that, they are going to have no bridges. They are going to have no power plants. Stone ages.” Trump said Washington had extended Iran time to negotiate—granting 10 days after an initial seven-day request—and called the period “critical.”
