A Russian military transport plane crashed in annexed Crimea, killing all 29 people on board, Russian agencies reported early Wednesday. Officials said the victims included six crew members and 23 passengers. The An-26 turboprop was operating a scheduled flight over the peninsula and lost contact with controllers at about 6 p.m. Tuesday. Interfax, citing the Defence Ministry, said the crash is believed to have resulted from a technical malfunction and that investigators have found no indication of external interference. Local sources speaking to Tass and RIA Novosti at the scene reported that the aircraft struck a cliff. The An-26 is a Soviet-era military transport aircraft used for cargo and personnel movements.
