Dhaka, March 27, 2026: The Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance marked the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ram (Ram Navami) with worship, a yajna and aarti at 9 am in the capital. At 11 am a colourful procession began at Shri Shri Sitanath Temple, passed Dayaganj Shri Shri Shiva Temple, and returned to the Ram-Sita Temple. In the afternoon, prasad was distributed among devotees.
Before the procession, a discussion meeting was chaired by the Alliance President, Advocate Dinabandhu Roy. Speakers included Secretary General Advocate Gobinda Chandra Pramanik, Executive President Advocate Pradip Kumar Pal, Chief Coordinator Bijoy Krishna Bhattacharya, Senior Vice President Dulal Chandra Das, Vice President Nitai De Sarkar, Hindu Youth Alliance President Engineer Mrinal Kanti Madhu, General Secretary Sujan Gain, and Hindu Student Alliance President Sajib Kundu. They discussed the teachings of Lord Ram and urged that Ram Navami be declared a public holiday.
Similar worship, processions and prasad distribution programs were held in districts including Chattogram, Gopalganj, Manikganj, Narsingdi, Kishoreganj and Pabna.
In India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers and virtually observed the Surya Tilak ceremony at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Ram Navami. At noon a beam of sunlight fell on the forehead of Ram Lalla’s idol, forming a celestial tilak, during which priests offered prayers. The nine-day Ram Navratri festival concludes on Ram Navami, honouring the nine incarnations of the goddess Shakti. (ANI)
