Tehran, March 26 — Tasnim News Agency reports that Yemen’s Ansarullah (the Houthi movement) says it is prepared to enter the battlefield in support of Iran amid the wider West Asia conflict and recent US‑Israeli strikes on Iran. Citing an informed source, Tasnim said the group has been on high alert since the conflict began on February 28 and remains ‘on full alert and ready to enter the battlefield.’
The source told Tasnim that Ansarullah could use control of the strategically vital Bab al‑Mandeb Strait as leverage against the US and Israel. It said such control would be necessary to ‘discipline’ adversaries and that Ansarullah’s forces are ‘fully prepared to play a skilful role’ in creating a credible maritime threat alongside Iran.
Tasnim noted the movement has previously demonstrated the ability to threaten the Bab al‑Mandeb and project resistance influence into the Red Sea. After the escalation beginning October 7, 2023, the agency said Ansarullah imposed measures including a naval blockade targeting Israel‑linked shipping, actions that imposed economic costs on Israel and prompted some vessels to reroute around southern Africa. The agency also attributed aerial strikes on Israeli sites and repeated attacks on US naval vessels near Yemen’s coast to the group.
Separately, Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Araghchi told state media Press TV that Iran will continue a policy of ‘resistance’ in response to what he called ‘unprovoked American‑Israeli aggression,’ ruling out negotiations or a ceasefire without reliable guarantees. ‘At present, our policy is to continue resistance, and no negotiations have taken place,’ he said, adding there are ‘no negotiations underway’ and expressing skepticism about external assurances.
