Tehran, March 7 (ANI): As the West Asia conflict entered its seventh day, Iran signalled reconciliation with its Gulf neighbours. In a televised address, President Masoud Pezeshkian said the leadership council had decided there would be no further attacks on neighbouring countries.
“I apologize to the neighbouring countries. We have no intention of invading other countries,” Pezeshkian said, adding that the temporary leadership council announced there would be no more attacks on neighbouring countries and no missile launches unless those countries attack Iran first.
At the same time, he rejected any notion of unconditional surrender. “They will take their dreams of us surrendering unconditionally to the grave,” he said.
Pezeshkian’s remarks came after US President Donald Trump declared there would be “no deal with Iran except unconditional surrender,” saying Tehran must capitulate before diplomatic talks could proceed. On Truth Social, Trump wrote that only after Iran’s leadership yields and acceptable new leaders are chosen would the US and its allies help rebuild the country — calling the aim to “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!).”
Earlier reports by Axios said Trump expressed interest in influencing the selection of Iran’s next Supreme Leader following the reported death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israel strike, likening his desired role to US involvement in Venezuelan affairs after the capture of Nicolás Maduro.
Fighting continued on the ground and in the air. Israel carried out strikes in Tehran and central Iran on Friday night targeting several military sites, including an underground ballistic missile facility and a military academy, the IDF said. The Israeli military said more than 80 fighter jets dropped 230 bombs on the targets, and described one subterranean site as used to store and produce ballistic missiles.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said it launched the 23rd wave of Operation True Promise 4 on Friday night, deploying new-generation missile systems against targets in the occupied territories and US bases across the region. The IRGC statement said the latest wave used advanced missile systems capable of striking multiple targets. (ANI)
