On the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterated India’s firm stance against terrorism, saying the nation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains resolute in defending its peace and security. In a post on social media he said the operation demonstrated India’s determination to hold perpetrators accountable and signalled zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism.
Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita praised the courage and precision of the armed forces, highlighting the coordinated work of intelligence agencies, strategic leadership and military units. He described the operation as a clear message that those who threaten India’s security cannot evade the reach of its forces, and he paid tribute to the bravery and dedication of service personnel. Margherita also urged people to change their social media display pictures to an image he shared as a mark of respect for the troops and in honour of Operation Sindoor.
Launched on May 7, 2025 in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, Operation Sindoor was a calibrated tri-service response aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan. Planned on the basis of multi-agency intelligence, the campaign identified nine major camps as targets and was executed to minimize civilian harm while ensuring operational effectiveness.
Following the strikes, Pakistan launched a series of drone and UCAV attacks against Indian airbases and logistics nodes. Those threats were intercepted by India’s multilayered air-defence systems and the Integrated Command and Control Strategy, which supported real-time identification, assessment and neutralisation of threats across domains.
The operation showcased joint capability and seamless coordination among the Army, Air Force and Navy, backed by government agencies and departments, and unfolded across land, air and sea as a focused, intelligence-led response.
