A widely shared social media clip shows a woman clinging to the balcony of a high-rise in Guangdong province as she attempts to escape what observers say was an encounter with her lover’s wife. The footage captures her hanging from a 10th-floor balcony before beginning a perilous descent along the building’s exterior.
In the video she uses drainpipes and windowsills to move downward, at times losing her footing and fighting to keep her grip while onlookers watch from the ground and nearby windows. A shirtless man believed to be her lover appears briefly at an apartment window, speaks to her, then disappears back inside, leaving her to continue the dangerous climb.
At one stage she slides down a water pipe to a lower level, then knocks on a neighbour’s window. The neighbour eventually helps her inside, narrowly preventing what could have been a fatal fall.
The clip prompted strong online reactions. Many users condemned the man’s behavior as “reckless and cowardly,” arguing he left the woman to face the danger alone. Others criticised the woman’s choice to scale the building without any safety equipment, warning that a single slip might have been deadly. Comments included, “No man is worth putting your life at such risk!” and “Won’t the wife find out after watching this video? Cheating is bad guys.”
Authorities or the people involved have not released an official statement in the footage’s wake. The video has reignited discussions about personal safety, accountability, and the risks some take in private disputes that spill into public spaces.
