Brasilia [Brazil], December 11 (ANI): Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff, during an official visit to Brazil, met Celso Amorim, Chief Advisor to the President, and H.E. José Múcio Monteiro, Minister of Defence, the Indian Navy said. The talks reviewed expanding India–Brazil defence engagement and focused on enhancing strategic cooperation and bilateral defence ties.
Both sides explored defence industry collaboration and capability‑building initiatives to support long‑term interoperability and shared security objectives. Deliberations covered regional and global dynamics — including the South Atlantic, the wider Indo‑Pacific, and the role of the Global South — underscoring a shared vision for a secure, stable, rules‑based international order. The statement said these high‑level exchanges reaffirmed strategic convergence and a mutual commitment to elevate India‑Brazil defence cooperation under the “Bridges of Friendship” spirit.
Admiral Tripathi also met Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, Commander of the Brazilian Navy, to discuss expanding naval cooperation in defence industry, technology development, innovation, exchange of best practices, and capacity building. The Indian Navy Spokesperson noted discussions on operational engagements, training exchanges, hydrographic collaboration, information sharing, and avenues to enhance Maritime Domain Awareness.
The apex‑level engagement, the Navy added, reaffirms both navies’ resolve to strengthen strategic convergence and deepen the India‑Brazil maritime partnership, contributing to stability in the global maritime commons, particularly across the Global South. (ANI)
