Kabul, December 6 (ANI): Four civilians were killed and four others injured in fresh clashes between Afghan and Pakistani forces near Spin Boldak district in Kandahar, Tolo News and local sources reported. The casualties resulted from mortar attacks in the Maazal Gali and Luqman village areas on Friday evening.
A woman and a man are among the critically wounded and are receiving treatment at Aino Mina Hospital. Afghanistan’s official spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, posted on X that Pakistani troops had launched attacks on Afghan territory in Spin Boldak and that Islamic Emirate forces responded.
Dawn reported heavy exchanges of fire along the Chaman border late Friday night, with both sides blaming the other for initiating the confrontation. Pakistani authorities told Dawn that Afghan forces fired mortar shells toward the Badani area and that Pakistani forces retaliated. A senior Quetta official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the firefight began around 10 pm and continued into the early hours.
Medical Superintendent of Pakistan’s Chaman district hospital, Muhammad Owais, said three people, including a woman, were brought to the hospital with injuries after the clashes. There were no immediate official statements from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) or the Foreign Office.
Tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border have frequently escalated in recent months, with both sides accusing each other of violations in the border region. (ANI)
